About

Michael Willard is a non-partisan Royal Oak Commissioner candidate. He decided to run for a seat after going to multiple City and Commission meetings, forums, roundtables, and realizing current City Officials do not actively listen to the tax paying residents and business owners of Royal Oak.

Michael has a unique perspective on Royal Oak since he is a native and grew up within the Royal Oak Public School System. After graduating, he moved away to experience other areas Michigan and the United States for a prolonged period of time. He returned to Royal Oak, where he resides. This is what sets Michael apart from other candidates. He brings experiences from growing up in Royal Oak, living in other environments and can relate to everyone!

Outside of running as non-partisan candidate Michael Willard is a working professional engineer and small business owner who sees both sides of issues. He enjoys time volunteering, outside activities, exercising, dancing, and helping others.

He prefers an independent view especially when it comes to topics and decisions that will have an impact on current and future constituents of the City. He is honest and transparent. He does not believe in misleading or ignoring anyone. If he does not know the answer, he will say so.

Michael would bring logic to the Commission and would do what’s best for the City and constituents. Simply put, Michael Willard would be what public officials are obligated to do: Serve their constituents!
